求める人材
Student requirements

  知的材料システム研究室では,「機能・構造用金属材料の研究を精力的に行いたい学生」を募集します. 研究室配属前後でやることはガラッと変わります.なぜなら,配属前はすでに分かっている答えのある事柄を学ぶのに対して,研究室配属後はまだ答えが分かっていない事柄を明らかにするためです. 当然,すでに分かっている事を知らなければ,何が答えがわかっていない事かもわかりません. そのため,授業の成績が良い方が望ましいですが,学部レベルの授業で学ぶ内容は,研究をする上での基礎でしかありません. どんな研究をするにせよ,研究室配属後は自身の研究に必要なことは積極的に学んでいく必要があります. 我々の研究室は材料に関する研究を中心を行っていますが,その材料に関する知識に関しては配属後に学んでいけば大丈夫です.むしろ,いちばん大事なのは材料に関して知りたい,研究したいという意欲となります.
 研究室配属後は,学生といえども成人していますので,社会人としての自覚をもって研究室生活を送っていってもらいます. 毎週1回,午前中にあるゼミ,研究室内の研究報告や学会参加には原則参加してもらます. ただ,社会人になる前の貴重な時間ですので,メリハリのある生活を送ってもらえたらと思います. ダラダラと研究室に居るのが大事なのではなくて,よく研究をし,息抜きが必要であればし,何事も全力で行ってもらいたいと考えています.

AS the menber of Intelligent Material Systems Laboratory, we look for "students who are interested in energetically conducting research on functional/structuralmetallic materials".
Everyting changes drastically before and after you belong to the laboratory.
What you learn before you belong to the lab is everything what the answers are already known
However, you start resarch for which the answers are not yet known after you belong to the lab.
Naturally, you have to know what is known and what is not known.
Otherwise, you can not find new things.
For this reason, it is preferable to have good grades in your classes, but what you learn in undergraduate level classes is only the basis for doing research.
No matter what kind of research you do, you need to actively learn what you need to do for your own research after you are assigned to a laboratory.
Our laboratory focuses on materials research, but you can learn about materials after you have been assigned to our laboratory.
Rather, the most important thing is the desire to learn about and research materials.

After being assigned to a laboratory, students are treated as adults.
So, we ask you to live their laboratory life with the awareness of a society.
In principle, students are required to participate in weekly morning seminars, research reports in the laboratory (a few times a year), and participation in academic conferences.
However, as this is valuable time before becoming a member of society, we would like you enjoy your life.
It is not important for you to only stay in the laboratory without doing anything
We want you to do your research well, take a break if necessary, and do everything to the best of your ability.

4年生は,11月下旬~12月初旬に開催される日本金属学会・日本鉄鋼協会の北信越連合総会・講演大会での発表(発表10分+質疑5分)を目指して研究を行います.
3月には,関東で行われる日本金属学会講演大会での発表を目標としてもらいます.

B4 Students are requested to give a presentation (10 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for discussion) at JIMM/ISIJ Hokushinetsu branch Meeting, which will be held in late November/early December.
B4 Students are also requested to give a presentation (10 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for discussion) at JIMM/ISIJ Meeting in Spring, which will be held in the middle of March.

修士学生は,およそ半年ごとに,日本金属学会,日本鉄鋼協会,日本軽金属学会,日本銅学会の講演大会(発表10分+質疑5分)にて発表を行います.
北信越支部講演大会にも参加します.
それが可能なペースで研究計画立案と実施をしてもらいます.
また,修士学生中に1本の学術論文の投稿を行ってもらいます.
これらによって,就職後および博士課程進学後に一人で業務・研究を行うための基礎を確立してもらいます.

Master's students give a presentation (10 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for discussion) at JIMM/ISIJ/IJIM/JICST approximately every six months.
Master's students are also requested to participate in JIM/ISIJ the Hokushinetsu Branch Conference.
Master's students are expected to plan and carry out research with a pace that enables to achieve above.
In addition, students are required to submit one academic paper during their master's course.
Through these activities, the students will establish a basis for carrying out work and research on their own after employment or after entering a PhD course.


博士学生は,上記に加えて国際学会への参加をしてもらいます.
PhD students are requested to join an international conference in addition to above conditions.

研究対象
Resarch topic

 世の中には様々な物質が存在し,それぞれが物性と呼ばれる性質を持っています. 材料とは,目的があって適切な物質を選び,その物性を利用する場合の物質の呼び方です. 目的に必要な性質の事を機能と呼びます.

There are many different matters in the world, each of which has its own properties, called physical properties.
A material is a term for a matters when a suitable matter is selected for a purpose and its physical properties are used.
The properties necessary for the purpose are called functions.

構造用材料
Structure materials

構造材料とは強度といった機械的(力学的)特性を必要とする材料を指します.
具体的には,自動車や航空機といった輸送用機器のボディー材料,橋梁やビルに用いられる鉄骨,航空機エンジンに持ちられる高温用耐熱材料等があります。
つまり,構造を維持するのに必要な材料となります.
一般的には,より高強度かつ加工性の良い材料の開発が行われます.

Structural materials are requireed mechanical properties such as strength.
For examples, materials for automobiles and aircrafts, steel frames for bridges and buildings, and high-temperature heat-resistant materials used in aircraft engines, etc.
In other words, they are the materials required to maintain the structure.
In general, the development of materials with higher strength and better workability is performed.

本研究室では,高強度を実現可能な以下の材料を研究しています.

機能材料
Functional materials

機能材料とは,強度以外の機能を必要とする材料です. 応用としては,水素特性,生体特性,光学特性,電気特性,電子特性,磁気特性,触媒特性を利用した分野が挙げられます.
具体的には,水素高純度化用の,安価な水素透過合金の開発を行っています(石川教授).
生体毒性の低い新規合金の開発も行っています(石川教授).
また,軽量導電性金属材料として新規アルミニウム合金の開発を行っています(宮嶋准教授).
近年では,レーザーを用いて金属ナノ粒子を作製し,その触媒特性も調査しています(宮嶋准教授).

Functional materials are required some functions other than strength.
Applications include the fields of hydrogen properties, biological properties, optical properties, electrical properties, electronic properties, magnetic properties and catalytic properties.
Specifically, we are developing cost-effective hydrogen permeable alloys for hydrogen purification (Prof. Ishikawa).
We are also developing new alloys with low biotoxicity (Prof. Ishikawa).
We are also developing new aluminium alloys as lightweight conductive metallic materials (Associate Prof. Miyajima).
Recently, the process to fabricate metallic nanoparticles using lasers and their catalytic properties have also been investigated (Associate Prof. Miyajima).

new measurement/observation techniques

電気抵抗測定を用いた水素化・脱水素化の測定手法の開発等,各種新規測定系の確立も行っています(石川教授・宮嶋准教授)
(他にも色々やっていますが,一例です.)
We have also established various new measurement systems, such as the development of measurement methods for hydrogenation and dehydrogenation using electrical resistance measurement (Prof. Ishikawa and Associate Prof. Miyajima)
. (We are also doing a lot of other things, but this is just one example.)
